Good hair care

Now i bet all you ladies pop down to boots and pick up you elvive, your pantenne or your alberto balsam shampoo and conditioner because it
A. Smells amazing
B. Its super cheap
C. It says its going to make your hair feel amazing
Ok i give it to you, if i wasnt a hairdresser i would probably be the exact same, all three of those points do draw you into a product. This blog post is not to get you to stop buying your faveourite shampoo and conditioner or slate anyone for using them but ill give you an insite to why professional salon brand products are much better for your hair.

So you buy your shampoo and use a huge dollop nearly the size of your hand because your hair is super greasy and needs a good clean but let me tell you by using a huge dollop of shampoo it doesnt actually make your hair any cleaner, infact its just producing a huge amount of product build up on your hair which is why sometimes you might feel your hair doesnt feel so great once you have washed it. You only need a small amount of shampoo, the size of a 20p coin. The first shampoo you will probably think huh??? Nothing is happening its not lathering up but the first shampoo is really to get rid of any dirt on the hair and scalp the second shampoo is where you will find it lathers up and will clean your hair. The same applies to the conditioner, only a 20p size.

Shampoo you buy from boots is fine if you think it does the trick for your hair, but if you have coloured hair ( especially bleach ) then salon brands are much better for your hair. Non salon brands lack all the natural ingredients where as salon brands have pure ingredients that the hair needs.
Non salon brands use probably 10% pure ingredients and the rest is filled with water and a thickening lotion to stop the shampoo and conditioner from being super runny.
Salon brands are competly pure ingredients and give your hair exactly what it needs either for coloured hair or dry and damaged hair. Some shampoos dont nessecerily give your hair a really shiny appearence because the ingredients work more on the inside of your hair for example feeding it protein to help give you stronger hair. Salon brands arent filled with silicon which coats the hair to give you that glossy shiny look. Silicon can be bad for your hair because soo much silicon build up will affect your choice in future hair services such as colour and perms.

Just one more thing... so yes salon brands are slightly more expensive but a bottle of 250ml can get you 70-80 washes. You probably spend 3 pound on a bottle of shampoo say every 2 weeks so after three months you would have spent 18 pounds on shampoo. So really you could actually buy a salon brand which would last you just the same amount of time :)

Im not telling you to stop using whatever your using but i just want you all to know if your hair is feeling damaged or you feel your colour fades too quickly have a little think about maybe switching to a salon brand, a few brands im very fond of is Redken, Sebastian and Pureolgy.

Char ♡
